In memorium: Mary Palmer

Mary PalmerIt was with sadness, tinged with joy, that we inform you that our friend Mary Palmer died peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Tuesday, 9th June. Mary had battled long with melanoma and was being cared for in the last few weeks by the wonderful staff of Dorothy House Hospice, near Bradford-upon-Avon. Mary was a marvellous friend and poet. She was thrilled when a collection of her poems (‘Iona’) was published by Awen Publications, (Bath), in 2008.

Mary was a creative soulmate, always ready with beautiful words of wisdom, or perceptive criticism! We shall miss her deeply.

  1. Geoff Hall says:

A poetry reading of Mary’s work, will be performed at Waterstone’s in Bath, (Milsom Street) on Tuesday 8th September. Doors Open 6:30pm, 7pm start. Free Entry.

The poetry is from Mary’s posthumously published ‘Tidal Shift’. (£5 from every purchase will be donated to Dorothy House Hospice). Again, I’d like to thank Kevan Manwaring (Awen Publications), for publishing these exciting new poems from Mary. GH
